Fraudulent/Cloned Websites & Identities
It is Federated Prime Rate's objective to always provide a professional service to its clients, acting with integrity at all times. It is highlighted to clients, investors and other parties, that although financial services groups in the UK, such as Federated Prime Rate are regulated, the financial flows and opportunities inevitably attract fraudsters to the industry. The fraudsters will usually promote 'get rich quick schemes' such as boiler room scams, ponzi schemes etc. The Financial Services Authority ("FSA") publicises such schemes in order to increase public awareness. One prevalent methodology is for the fraudsters to copy/clone a legitimate, regulated firm's identity. The FSA has stated that in 2011, there were 419 reports made to them in relation to cloned identies of FSA authorised firms. This is usually done by the creation of a copycat website, with the addition of fraudulent details, such as an office that does not exist, false contact details and/or staff who are not employed by the legitimate firm. The fraudster will claim that the legitimate company is promoting for example a fund's units/share. These units/shares are likely to be worthless either currently or in the near future.
If you ever have any doubt as to the legitimacy of individuals claiming to be or to be linked to Federated Prime Rate you should conatct us directly. Our contact information and indentity can be checked on the FSA's website, listed under the FSA register. The FSA's website is www.fsa.gov.uk
Further information can also be found in the Consumer Information section of the FSA's website.
