Prime Rate Capital Management LLP (Prime Rate) is pleased to announce today that, subject to the relevant regulatory approvals, it is to be acquired by Federated Investors, Inc, one of the world’s largest cash managers with assets under management of $351bn, including $189bn in AAA money market funds.
At a time when rating agencies increasingly require the parent of a cash management business to be investment grade or equivalent, Prime Rate is also pleased to announce that Fitch have reaffirmed the Prime Rate funds’ AAAmmf ratings. Standard and Poor’s AAAm ratings for the funds have also been maintained.
The agreement includes all of the current Prime Rate team who will continue to manage cash for clients in the same way as it always has, but with the additional benefit of further investment and credit resources to draw upon from within the Federated Group. Investors in the funds can be confident in Federated’s stewardship, as it is one of the world’s largest and most experienced managers of money market products. For the foreseeable future the Prime Rate team will continue to be located in the London offices of Matrix Group, its former partner.

Despite the turmoil in the European markets our funds continiued to perform strongly, both against their peers and against market rates.
